ACCIONA Energia Signs 800 GWh Italy Renewable Deals With Fixed Pricing

By

-- ACCIONA said Thursday it secured 800 GWh of renewable supply deals in Italy under a state-backed scheme, linking fixed pricing of 65 euros ($76.80) per megawatt-hour to long-term project development.

The agreements support energy-intensive industries, including steelmaker Acciaierie Venete, as part of efforts to cut emissions by sourcing clean electricity, the company said.

The contracts fall under Italy's Energy Release 2.0 framework, managed by Gestore dei Servizi Energetici, which aims to boost renewable capacity by pairing industrial demand with new generation assets.

Under the mechanism, industrial buyers will procure renewable electricity for three years at a fixed price through the state entity, ensuring stable energy costs, the company said.

In exchange, ACCIONA Energia will build new renewable facilities in Italy that will receive fixed tariffs, linking supplied electricity volumes with new capacity over a 20-year period.

The structure improves revenue visibility for developers while offering industries predictable clean energy pricing, helping boost competitiveness and support expansion of Italy's renewable energy capacity, the company said.

ACCIONA operates 156 MW of wind capacity across four sites in Italy and plans to add two solar plants in Sicily totaling around 151 MW.
