-- New orders for US durable goods rose by 0.8% in March following a decline of 1.2%, above expectations for a 0.5% increase in a survey compiled by Bloomberg.
Excluding a 0.8% increase in transportation orders, new orders would have been up 0.9% in March after a 1.2% increase in January. Expectations were for a 0.4% gain.
Durable goods shipments increased by 0.7% after a 1.6% increase in February. Excluding transportation, shipments were up 0.7% after a 1.4% jump in the previous month.
Nondefense capital goods new orders excluding aircraft rose by 3.3% in the month, while shipments increased by 1.2%.
